» North Shore Park

The one-of-a-kind North Shore Park, St. Petersburg's vast waterfront park, runs along Tampa Bay from Coffee Pot Bayou to Vinoy Park. This park is awesome, with scenic path walks that run through North Shore Park, over Snell Isle, adjacent to Flora Kylies Park, and Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum. It has 4 lighted tennis courts, the North Shore Beach, benches, playgrounds, and even a softball field. North Shore Park is a rare natural treat smack in the middle of a modern setting.

Location: North Shore Dr. and 13th Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL 33701

» North Beach at Fort De Soto Park

Fort De Soto is very close to St. Pete Beach and offers boating, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bicycling, skating, running, nature trails, a historical fort, fishing piers, dog beach, shelling, birding, camping, and swimming.

There are two designated swimming areas. One is at East Beach, where lifeguards are present during certain hours. The other is at North Beach in a shallow, protected lagoon, and the Gulf just past the lagoon.

North Beach is one of the best beaches near Tampa and is perfect for beach lovers. The real treasure here is the family-friendly beach, where the kids will have a blast splashing around in the large tidal pool and looking for seashells and sand dollars.

If white sand melting into the turquoise blue water is your idea of paradise, look no further. Rather than rows of hotels and million-dollar mansions lining the beachfront, it has a backdrop of preserved nature.

Palm trees are circled in clusters, gently waving in the sea breeze, while small dunes provide a natural barrier between the chaos of the world and the serenity of the waves crashing on the shoreline.

» Indian Rocks Beach

Indian Rocks Beach has expansive white sand beaches with less emphasis on any commercial development. Popularly known as IRB to the locals, this quiet, residential beach area is a less crowded alternative to Clearwater or St. Pete. The public beach access is wonderful, with over 20 entries to the soft sand, but amenities are minimal, with showers, restrooms, and parking spaces. The surrounding areas feature a mixture of residential and vacation spots - you will not find any big chain hotels here. Despite its laid-back ambiance, there is still plenty to do here, with skimboarding a popular pastime. Check out the surf shops to find rentals and lessons. There are also several restaurants and bars to go to when you want to take a break from the beach.

» Clearwater Beach - Clearwater

Clearwater Beach is a very famous and busy beach with a long list of "Best Beach" honors. In addition to the meticulously maintained Florida beaches, there are several beach amenities such as watersports rentals, concessions, and cabanas with shade. If hanging out on the beach gets old, other activities are also close by, including fishing, dolphin-watching tours, and leisure charters. You can also go to the former home of the famous Disney dolphin, Winter, at the Clearwater Aquarium. Some of the best seafood restaurants in Tampa are found at Clearwater Beach, including two versions of the region's perennial favorite, Frenchy's. At sunset, people gather at The Pier every evening to participate in the sunset celebration that includes entertainment and a craft market. After dark, various clubs and nightlife options round out the day's itinerary, including a two-story dance club, The Wave, at Shepherd's Beach Resort.

» Caladesi Island State Park

Picked for its majestic beauty, the beach on Caladesi Island is one of the most breathtaking beaches on the planet. At this secluded beach, the sand seems whiter and the water more teal-colored than anywhere else. Shell hunters will love the pickings, and nature lovers will find many small critters to watch. It is a nature sanctuary, so there are few amenities available, and it is only reachable by ferry or private boat. While this may be inconvenient, it is a small price to pay for keeping the Island's pristine condition.

» Sand Key Park

If you're looking for a tranquil, family-friendly Tampa Bay beach, explore Sand Key beach just south of Clearwater. This beautiful park is both park and beach, providing visitors access to a white sand beach, a boardwalk, and a short nature trail. If you come at the right time of year, you can see the sea turtles' nesting areas on the beach. So, whether you're looking to view Florida wildlife or just to swim and get a tan, this is the perfect location. Located on a barrier island between the gulf coast and mainland Florida, the park offers plenty of parking spaces, picnic shelters, shower and restroom facilities, and a playground for the kids.

It’s on the very southern tip of St. Pete Beach. You’ll enjoy a quiet beach but still have a buzzing town nearby, teeming with nightlife.

» Madeira Beach Access

Madeira Beach – a small strip of land along the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico and just west of St. Petersburg – is one of Florida's top destinations. Known as "Mad Beach" by the locals, you won't be disappointed with a wide variety of restaurants, lively entertainment, watersport activities, and a long list of fun, unique experiences that the entire family will enjoy.

Madeira Beach provides two main public beach accesses and many street-end accesses, many of which have limited, metered parking. It attracts "recreational beachgoers," not "peace and quiet nature lovers."

» Fred Howard Park

Fred Howard Park is a famous beach and nature preserve located on the north end of Tampa Bay's barrier islands. A mile-long causeway connects the park to the charming town of Tarpon Springs, home to the area's famous Sponge Docks and a delicious concentration of authentic Greek restaurants.

In addition to allowing visitors access to white sand expanses, the park protects endangered Florida habitats. Visitors will likely catch glimpses of local wildlife, including nesting ospreys, eagles, dolphins, and manatees. Amenities include picnic areas and playgrounds.
